Israeli soldier killed, 3 injured in combat in southern Lebanon, Israeli army says

ISTANBUL

One Israeli soldier was killed and three others injured in a combat in southern Lebanon, the Israeli army announced on Sunday.

A military statement announced the death of Sergeant Moshe Yitzhak Hacohen Katz of the Paratroopers Brigade.

Three other soldiers also sustained moderate injuries in the combat and were rushed to a hospital for medical treatment, according to the statement.

No further details were provided on the circumstances of the incident.

Israel has pounded Lebanon with airstrikes and launched a ground offensive in the south since a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2.

On Friday evening, the Lebanese Health Ministry announced that the death toll from the Israeli attacks rose to 1,142, with 3,315 others wounded.
