Bahrain says fires at petrochemical company ‘fully’ extinguished after Iranian strike

ISTANBUL

Bahrain said Sunday fires caused by an Iranian drone attack at a petrochemical company were “fully” extinguished.

The state news agency BNA said a drone strike had triggered fires at several operational units at the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company.

“The situation is now under control," the outlet said. No casualties were reported.

Authorities are now assessing damage on the ground to identify the full extent of the impact, the agency said.

Emergency response teams were dispatched immediately to the site and were working closely with Civil Defense and other government authorities to manage the incident and secure the facility, the same source said.

The Interior Ministry earlier said that civil defense teams were working to bring the blaze under control, without giving further details.

Footage on social media showed major explosions and fires at the facility.

Regional tensions have continued since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on Feb. 28, killing so far over 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, along with Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
