Ukrainian president highlights Oslo’s role in providing security guarantees, congratulates Jonas Gahr Store on election win

ISTANBUL
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Tuesday he held a phone call with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, congratulating him on his election victory and discussing defense cooperation amid ongoing Russian attacks.
Zelenskyy said on US social media company X that Store expressed condolences for recent Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities and communities, stressing that he “greatly values such solidarity and all the support we receive from Norway.”
“Norway’s leadership in providing security guarantees is of great importance to us. We coordinated our next contacts,” Zelenskyy added.
Norway has been a key supporter of Ukraine since the start of Russia’s war in February 2022, providing military and economic assistance, as well as humanitarian aid.
