US invites Albania to join founding members of Gaza Peace Board Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama

BELGRADE, Serbia

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said he has been invited by US President Donald Trump to join a US-backed international body expected to oversee the transitional governance of Gaza, known as the Peace Board.

Rama confirmed the invitation in a social media post over the weekend, calling it a major international recognition for Albania and a reflection of the country’s growing global standing.

He said Albania was invited as a founding member of the board.

“The board will be one of a kind. There has never been anything like it!” Trump wrote in the invitation, which Rama shared on social media. “I look forward to working with you, long into the future, toward the goal of establishing lasting world peace, prosperity and greatness for all.”

According to the letter, participating states may appoint authorized representatives to take part in the board’s meetings.

Rama is among several leaders who have confirmed receiving similar invitations. Leaders of Canada, Türkiye, Argentina, Hungary, Vietnam, Paraguay and other nations have also said they were invited to join the initiative.

The White House has said Trump will serve as chairman of the Peace Board. Other figures named as members include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Under the proposal, Gaza would be governed during a transitional period by a Palestinian technocratic body overseen by the international board.

According to a draft of the board’s charter reviewed by The New York Times and other US media, Trump is inviting countries to join beyond a three-year term if they are willing to pay more than $1 billion within the board’s first year.

Separately, the White House announced the formation of an 11-member executive board to support the technocratic administration in Gaza.

Members include Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, UN Special Coordinator Sigrid Kaag, UAE Minister of International Cooperation Reem Al-Hashimy and Israeli-Cypriot businessman Yakir Gabay, among others.
