A suspected military drone fell into a cornfield in eastern Poland early Wednesday and exploded, shattering the windows of nearby homes, TVP World reported.

The object, suspected to be a military drone, fell near a village about 100 kilometers (62 miles) west of the Ukrainian border.

The explosion broke the windows of nearby houses but did not cause injuries.

“At this stage, we are dealing with a military drone. The damage was most likely caused by explosives. A military expert is on the way to the site to confirm these circumstances,” according to district Prosecutor Grzegorz Trusiewicz.

He noted that the possibility of a civilian drone could be ruled out, but stressed that conclusions can only be made after all examinations are completed.

"Another violation of our airspace from the East confirms that Poland’s most important mission within NATO is the defense of our own territory. The Foreign Ministry will lodge a protest against the perpetrator,” Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski wrote on the US social media company X.
