Ukraine’s top diplomat urges Ireland to support tougher EU sanctions on Russia
'Neutrality does not mean indifference,' says Andrii Sybiha as he demands energy embargo, ceasefire pressure

ISTANBUL
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha addressed the Global Ireland Summit online on Tuesday and demanded increased pressure on Russia to achieve a full and lasting ceasefire.
“Ireland chose the right side of history and proved that neutrality does not mean indifference,” Sybiha wrote on X as he praised Irish support since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war.
He briefed participants on the battlefield situation, emphasizing that “despite the very difficult situation, Russia is not winning and Ukraine is not losing.”
Sybiha reiterated Ukraine’s readiness for a comprehensive ceasefire “on air, at sea, and on land,” and urged Dublin and other partners to push Moscow to “a real, durable ceasefire on the path to a real peace.”
He demanded stronger EU sanctions on Russia’s banking system and “shadow fleet,” along with a complete embargo on Russian energy imports to Europe, arguing they could accelerate the arrival of a just peace.
