Spain’s far-left Podemos party posted on Tuesday that Europe and Spain must act to stop the Israeli plan for “ethnic cleansing” in Gaza.

“The ceasefire does not put an end to the horror. Trump openly supports Netanyahu’s plan: expulsion, extermination and ethnic cleansing,” the party posted on social media network Bluesky.

Last weekend, US President Donald Trump told reporters on Air Force One that he proposed relocating Palestinians outside of Gaza.

"I'd like Egypt to take people… And I'd like Jordan to take people," Trump said. “You're talking about a million and a half people, and we just clean out that whole thing.”

The far-left party, which split from Spain’s progressive government two years ago, added: “Europe and Spain cannot continue to look the other way. It’s time to act to stop this barbarism.”

While Spain’s government has not used such blunt language, on Monday, the country’s foreign affairs minister rejected Trump’s proposal.

“Our position is clear: Gazans need to stay in Gaza,” Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares told reporters in Brussels.

At the European meeting of foreign ministers, the bloc announced that it would restart a civilian mission to monitor the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt.​​​​​​​

Albares said Spain will send its Civil Guard police force to take part in the mission.
