Russia-Africa Summit to kick off in St. Petersburg on July 27

ANKARA

The second Russia-Africa summit will begin at St. Petersburg's Expo Forum in Russia on July 27–28.

Russia's President Vladimir Putin is slated to participate, as are many African officials, with the goal of boosting efforts to strengthen comprehensive and equal collaboration between Russia and African countries.

At a meeting with the heads of delegations of African states in Constantine Palace in St. Petersburg on June 18, Putin declared that the "comprehensive development of ties with African countries is a priority of Russian foreign policy."

The summit will hold discussions and panels on politics, security, economic relations, science and technology, and cultural and humanitarian issues.

In addition, participants and officials will have the opportunity to discuss energy cooperation, agribusiness and mining investments.

The event is projected to draw over 3,000 delegates from 60 nations.
