Pro-West Nicusor Dan wins Romanian presidential election
Dan gathered over 54% of vote with more than 96% of votes counted, announces Romania's Permanent Election Authority

ATHENS
Pro-West Nicusor Dan on Sunday won the Romanian presidential election runoff, defeating the far-right candidate George Simion.
With over 96% of the cast votes counted, Dan gathered over 54.2% of the vote, Romania's Permanent Election Authority announced.
George Simion won more than 45.7% of the votes, it added.
According to the authority, the turnout rate stood at 64.7%.
