McAfee antivirus software creator John McAfee was reportedly found dead in a Barcelona prison on Wednesday.

Barcelona police are investigating the case, with everything pointing to a suicide, Spanish daily El Pais reported, citing the Department of Justice.

The cybersecurity mogul was found dead hours after Spain allowed his extradition to the US.

The US Department of Justice confirmed his arrest in Spain in October 2020, when it unsealed an indictment against McAfee.

Prosecutors alleged that he failed to file tax returns in 2014-2018 despite making millions of dollars from promoting cryptocurrencies, consulting work, and speaking and selling the rights to his life story for a documentary.
