A major Greek animation festival announced Wednesday it ended cooperation with the Israeli Embassy in Greece.

“After serious consideration and following extensive reactions from organizations and individuals, ANIMASYROS 2024 International Animation Festival has decided to discontinue its cooperation with the Embassy of Israel in Greece, in order to ensure a seamless hosting of this year's festival,” it said in a statement.

Nothing that it believes political choices of states should not hamper artistic expression, the festival added: “ANIMASYROS will once again this year ensure the welcoming and hosting of artists from all over the world.”
