Macron vows cooperation with South Africa for 'fairer,' 'more inclusive' global governance
'We agreed to pursue our dialogue and to work in close coordination in the lead-up to the United Nations General Assembly,' Macron says over phone talk with Ramaphosa

ISTANBUL
French President Emmanuel Macron vowed cooperation with South Africa towards a "fairer" and "more inclusive" global governance in a phone call with his counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa on Saturday.
"A few months ahead of the G20 Summit, I reiterated my warmest wishes for success to South Africa. Together, we will work with the South African presidency of the G20 to chart a roadmap towards fairer and more inclusive global governance, notably in view of France’s presidency of the G7 in 2026," Macron wrote on US social media company X.
He said they discussed international crises, particularly the situation in Middle East and Ukraine along with the Great Lakes region while also reviewing deepening bilateral cooperation.
"We agreed to pursue our dialogue and to work in close coordination in the lead-up to the United Nations General Assembly, where we shall meet again in September," Macron added.
The French president also spoke with his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev over international issues.
"We discussed the strengthening of our strategic partnership, particularly in the areas of transportation and energy, following my visit to Kazakhstan in November 2023 and President Tokayev’s state visit to France last November," he said.
