GUMULCINE, Greece

The Greek participants of the Global Sumud Flotilla have accused Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' government of protecting Israel at the expense of its own citizens, pointing to the silence of the state news agency and the failure to investigate alleged drone attacks in Greece’s own search and rescue zone.

They said the decision by the Athens–Macedonian News Agency (AMNA) to ignore both the flotilla’s goals and the involvement of Greek nationals reflects the government’s “unconditional loyalty” to Israel.

By refusing to probe reported drone strikes on the flotilla, they argued, the government is not just silent but “openly complicit” in actions that breach international law.

The group also slammed Mitsotakis for rejecting the United Nations’ classification of the Gaza attacks as genocide, saying the stance reveals how far Greece has drifted from the international community.
