Greek national detained in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for photographing military sites
Lefkosa court extends his detention by 4 days to allow examination of documents and electronic files seized

LEFKOSA / ISTANBUL
Authorities in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) detained a Greek national on Monday for allegedly photographing military installations, the Turkish Embassy, and other sensitive locations.
According to sources from the Turkish Interior Ministry, the suspect, identified as Georgios Bartzokis, reportedly entered the TRNC from the Greek Administration of Southern Cyprus (GASC).
He was detained in the town of Lefke after authorities discovered he had taken photos of military sites and important facilities, some of which had been digitally transmitted.
Bartzokis was staying in a residence in the Yedidalga area, where a search uncovered additional images of military zones and critical locations, the sources said.
He was brought before the Lefkosa District Court, which extended his detention by four days to allow further examination of the documents and electronic files seized.
Bartzokis is expected to appear in court on Friday and could face up to five years in prison if convicted.
