CAIRO

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi emphasized the need for the international community to support a two-state solution for Palestine and Israel in a phone call Wednesday with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.

A statement from the Egyptian presidency highlighted “the deep relations between the two friendly countries and their keenness to enhance cooperation across various fields to meet the aspirations of the two peoples.”

The two leaders also confirmed “the importance of continuing consultation and coordination between them on regional and international issues of common interest.”

They also exchanged views on regional developments, with Sisi outlining “Egypt's efforts to ensure the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of hostages and captives, as well as its efforts to deliver humanitarian aid into the Strip in order to save it from the humanitarian tragedy it is facing.”

He also discussed plans “to urgently begin efforts to rebuild the Strip in a way that contributes to restoring stability to the people of the Strip and making it viable.”

Sisi further emphasized “the need for the international community to bear its responsibilities to support the implementation of the two-state solution, which represents the basic guarantee for restoring stability in the region.”
