The death toll from a large Russian airstrike on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv last week rose to 32, local authorities announced on Thursday.

“Update on the consequences of the missile strike on Dec. 29, 2023. Investigators of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, during the examination, discovered two more dead,” Serhiy Popko, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, said on Telegram.

The ongoing investigation into the missile strike on Kyiv found that 32 people were killed and 30 others were injured, Popko added.

On Wednesday, the Kyiv City Military Administration announced that the death toll had risen to 30, while 29 people were receiving medical care.

On Dec. 29, at least 40 people were killed due to massive air attacks by Russia on the Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Lviv, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the strikes as the "heaviest attack" by Moscow on the country.
