Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski welcomed Britain’s new Foreign Secretary David Lammy in north-central Poland on Sunday, according to local media.

During their meeting at Sikorski’s mansion in the village of Chobielin, located around 300 kilometers (186 miles) northwest of the capital Warsaw, Lammy stressed the new government's aim to strengthen the UK's relations with the European Union and its continued support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia, Euronews reported.

Lammy said he is visiting Britain's “key European partners” including Poland, Germany and Sweden for discussions on cooperation and security.

“The UK’s military, economic, political and diplomatic support for Ukraine will remain unwavering,” but it wants a “reset” with Europe in the areas of climate protection, energy and migration, Euronews quoted him as saying.

The UK's new Prime Minister Keir Starmer, whose Labour Party won by a landslide in general elections, on Friday appointed Lammy, 51, as the new foreign secretary. He has been a Labour MP for Tottenham since 2000.
