The bodies of five skiers in the Swiss Alps have been recovered, while a sixth one is still missing, local media reported Monday.

The skiers went missing on Saturday on the Zermatt-Arolla ski route, in the Tete Blanche (White Head in French) region, Swiss radio-television broadcaster RTS said.

A group of three rescuers and a police officer found the bodies of five skiers late Sunday, police said.

Search operations continue to find the sixth skier.

According to the report, the five skiers were members of the same family, while the sixth one came from Fribourg in western Switzerland.

The skiers were aged between 21 and 58.

Extreme weather conditions and risk of avalanche in the last 24 hours undermined the rescue efforts, RTS reported.
