6 injured after car ploughs into crowd during ‘wild race’ in France: Report

LONDON

At least six people were injured after a motorist drove into the crowd in France during a “wild car race,” local media reported on Saturday.

The incident took place in a neighborhood north of the Bordeaux region when a 32-year-old drove into the crowd late Friday, according to the Le Figaro daily.

The vehicle "lost control in a bend during a 'run', leaving the roadway, and came to hit spectators on the sidewalk,” it said, citing police sources.

Two of the injured people are said to be in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle has been arrested.
