Iraq starts producing oil from Nasiriyah oil field located in the southern city of Dhi Qar, Iraqi Oil Minister Jabar Ali al-Luaibi said on Monday.
The total current production from the field is about 20,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd), Luaibi said in a written statement, adding that the field has a production capacity of 100,000 bpd.
Iraq will also produce natural gas from the field, the minister said.
The country produces 4.5 million bpd and exports about 3.5 million, which is the main revenue source for the war torn Arab country.
