Danish Vestas and Japanese Mitsubishi's joint venture, MHI Vestas Offshore Wind, signed memorandums of understanding with four Taiwanese companies for the country's clean energy transition, MHI Vestas said on Wednesday.
The company said that agreements were signed with China Steel Machinery Corporation, Tien Li, Swancor and Fomosa Plastics Corporation companies.
It noted that the agreements are the realization of MHI Vestas' manufacturing strategy for the region to "leverage the unparalleled experience in energy infrastructure of the Mitsubishi Group in Taiwan."
"The Taiwan offshore wind market has impressively put itself in a front-runner position in the region. Having the benefit of early selection of a portfolio of projects allows us to enter into these manufacturing agreements with great confidence," said MHI Vestas incoming CEO, Philippe Kavafyan.
"We are honored to announce these partnerships today – partnerships that will spur the expansion of highly-skilled, local manufacturing jobs," he said.
