The head of Türkiye's Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAS) and Egypt’s ambassador to Türkiye discussed cooperation on energy in the Turkish capital, Ankara.
Abdulvahit Fidan, the chairman of BOTAS, met with Amr el-Hamami on Tuesday, the Turkish state gas grid operator BOTAS said in a statement Wednesday.
Citing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s Feb. 14 visit to Cairo, the statement underscored that during the visit, BOTAS and Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) agreed to develop cooperation. Following the meeting, negotiations between BOTAS and EGAS regarding potential partnership areas gained momentum.
Fidan and el-Hamami discussed the ongoing negotiations between the two state companies for cooperation in sectors ranging from natural gas trade to infrastructure projects.
With recent investments and international partnerships, BOTAS has expanded its supply potential, solidifying its position as a key energy player in Türkiye and internationally.
Last July, Türkiye and Egypt raised diplomatic ties by appointing ambassadors, marking a significant advancement from the level of charge d'affaires maintained since 2013.
