Iran and Russia agreed to enhance oil and gas sector cooperation, Iranian oil minister said during an official visit to Moscow on Tuesday.
Bijan Zanganeh’s remarks came after a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and Russian Energy Minister Nikolay Shulginov.
“We will expand our cooperation in order to neutralize the effect of sanctions,” Zanganeh said, referring to US sanctions on Iran and Russia.
Zanganeh underlined the decisive role that Russia played as Iran's strategic partner and in stabilizing the global oil market in recent years.
"Iran has good cooperation with Russian companies and it is planned that this cooperation in the field of oil and gas with Russian companies will continue," Zanganeh said.
This cooperation extends to Russian oil and gas equipment manufacturing companies that want to operate in Iran.
"They [Russian companies] must partner with Iranian companies and talk to their Iranian counterparts to achieve results," he said.
