WASHINGTON
The ninth meeting of Turkey-US Trade and Investment Council (TIFA) was held in Washington, capital of US.
Cemalettin Damlaci, Deputy Undersecretary of Turkey's Economy Ministry, headed the Turkish delegation and Turkey's Ambassador in Washington Namik Tan hosted a reception at the Turkish Embassy following the event on Thursday.
Damlaci said the main agenda of the meeting was the expectation of signing a free trade agreement (FTA) between Turkey and the US, reminding that Turkey had FTA with 19 countries.
Reminding recent Pricewaterhouse Coopers report estimating Turkey would be the 12th biggest economy as of 2030, Damlaci called on US to consider what Turkish markets have to offer.
Ambassador Tan said they had been working hard to boost bilateral commercial and economic relations. He said Turkey and the US were irrevocable for each other adding that economic relations were not at that level.
