US economy grows 0.7% in Q4 2025, below estimates
Downward revision in GDP growth due to lower estimates for exports, consumer spending, government spending, investment, says Bureau of Economic Analysis
ISTANBUL
The US economy has expanded by 0.7% in the last quarter of 2025, while the preliminary estimates had pointed to a 1.4% growth.
The gross domestic product (GDP) was revised down by 0.7 percentage points from the advance estimate, mainly due to lower estimates for exports, consumer spending, government spending, and investment. Imports declined less than previously reported, the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) said on Friday.
In the third quarter, the country's GDP increased by 4.4%, according to the bureau.
The bureau said: "The contributors to the increase in real GDP in the fourth quarter were increases in consumer spending and investment.
"These movements were partly offset by decreases in government spending and exports. Imports, which are a subtraction in the calculation of GDP, decreased."
It stated that compared with the third quarter, the slowdown in real GDP in the fourth quarter reflected declines in government spending and exports, along with slower growth in consumer spending, partly offset by stronger investment.
The bureau added that the drop in imports was also smaller than in the previous quarter.
