Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 increased by nearly 1,200 points at closing session on Friday

Turkish stocks rise over 1% at end week

ANKARA

Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the week at 116,829.39 points, rising 1.03% from previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 1,187.35 as of the daily close from Thursday's close of 115,642.04 points.

During the day, the index hovered between 114,453.40 points and 117,415.25 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 812.9 billion Turkish liras ($133.7 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 14.7 billion Turkish liras ($2.4 billion).

On the last transaction day of the week, 87 stocks on the index rose, 10 were down and three were flat compared to Thursday.

The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, defense giant Aselsan and mining company Koza Madencilik.

Koza Madencilik (KOZAA) was the best performer, with its shares up 11.57%, while while Coca Cola Icecek (CCOLA) suffered the biggest decline with its shares going down 5.15%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,634.80 by market close, up from $1,617.60 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $58.00 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Friday.
