Turkish stocks 0.75% up at midweek open

ANKARA

Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,095.29 points with a gain of 8.13 points or 0.75% on Wednesday.

At Tuesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index went down 3.53% to 1,087.16 points with a daily trading volume of 23.1 billion Turkish liras ($3.3 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.9630 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, down from Tuesday's closing rate of 6.9690.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.2480, versus 8.2040, and one British pound was traded for 9.1250 Turkish liras. It was 9.2230 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $44.61 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
