Turkish prefabricated building manufacturer Karmod announced on Friday that one of its kiosk cabins has been deployed on the campus of a local high school in the UK to serve as a ready-to-use food sales point.

The modular kiosk cabins will be used as a school canteen for a high school in the town of Wigan, near Manchester, the company said.

Karmod’s UK coordinator Muhammed Karacobanoglu said that kiosk-style prefab structures are increasingly popular in the UK for a wide range of commercial uses.

“While these cabins are mainly used as security booths in Türkiye, in the UK they are often preferred for retail stores, snack kiosks, butcher shops, and rental offices,” he said.

Karacobanoglu added that the company previously produced merchandise kiosks and ticket booths for Manchester United Football Club.

“The latest unit, now in service at a school in Wigan, will function as a sandwich kiosk for students. We equipped the cabin with a shutter system for the service window to ensure both convenience and security,” Karacobanoglu said.

Karmod produces kiosk cabins ranging in size from 4 to 50 square meters. Smaller models—especially 150x270 cm and 215x270 cm units—are particularly favored in the UK due to their quick installation, hygiene features, and long service life.

“Our structures can begin operating as soon as they are installed, giving businesses the ability to generate revenue on the same day,” Karacobanoglu said.
