Turkey's Borsa Istanbul starts day looking up

ISTANBUL 

Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.24 percent or 222.28 points to open at 92,449.60 points on Tuesday.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell 1.57 percent to close the day at 92,227.32 points with a daily trading volume of 4.43 billion liras ($857 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 5.3240 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with Monday's closing rate of 5.3060.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.0530, versus 6.0590 at the last close. One British pound traded for 6.7060 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 6.7110 by market close on Monday.

The price of Brent oil dropped to $60.03 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Tuesday, versus $61.11 on Monday's closing.
