GENEVA
Turkey's Labor and Social Security Minister Faruk Celik said that Turkey passed the test against the global financial crisis thanks to the macro economic policies of its government and the reforms made.
As a result of the macro economic policies and the reforms, unemployment in Turkey in February 2012 dropped to 9.1 percent. With this performance, Turkey ranked among the G-20 countries which dropped unemployment figures with the fastest pace, Celik noted.
Faruk Celik addressed the 101st Session of the International Labor Conference in Geneva, Switzerland on Monday.
The global economic crisis has not brought merely the problem of unemployment but also lack of justice in income distribution and social problems, Celik noted.
Political regimes will be regarded successful by their peoples only if they can do away with such problems, Celik stated.
In the center of such solutions lie establishing opportunities for more employment, Celik said.
