Toyota Motor retains title of global best-selling auto maker in 1st half of year
Japanese vehicle manufacturer's sales up 7.4% to 5.5M units in H1, being best-selling auto firm for 6th consecutive time

Toyota Motor retained its title as the best-selling automaker globally for the sixth consecutive time, with 5.5 million sales in January-June 2025, according to the firm's financial results released on Wednesday.
Toyota's global vehicle sales increased by 7.4% year-on-year in the first half of the year.
This figure for the first half of the year marked the highest global sales figure for the Japanese company ever.
Domestic sales climbed 27.4% to 1 million vehicles, while overseas sales increased by 3.6% to 4.5 million units.
The vehicle sales figures also include sales of minicar manufacturer Daihatsu and pickup truck manufacturer Hino, both part of the Toyota Motor Group.
During the six-month period, Toyota's sales in the US increased 4.2% to 1.24 million units, and in China, sales rose 6.8% to 837,744 units.
With these results, the company surpassed its closest rival, Volkswagen AG.
Volkswagen AG increased its global vehicle sales by 1.3% to 4.41 million units in the January-June 2025 period compared to the first half of 2024.
