Annual consumer inflation in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) area was constant at 4.7% in December, according to data released on Wednesday.

Food inflation slightly eased to 4.3% in December, while the annual rise in energy prices accelerated to 3.8% from 1.3% in November, according to data from the Paris-based organization.

Core inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, ticked down to 4.9% in December from 5% in the prior month.

"The increase in OECD energy inflation was offset somewhat by a marginal decline in OECD core inflation," it said.

In 2024 as a whole, annual OECD inflation decreased by 1.6 percentage points to to 5.2%.

OECD food and core inflation last year stood at 4.6% and 5.7%, respectively. Energy inflation amounted to 0.6% on average across the OECD countries, it noted.
