Russia has signed deals with Syria worth 850 million euros to restore infrastructure in the war-torn nation, Russia's RIA news agency quoted Syrian Prime Minister Wael Al Halaki as saying on Monday.

"The Russian side were receptive to the idea of restoring infrastructure, and so a number of deals, including two agreements, one worth 600 million euros and other 250 million, were signed," RIA quoted Al Halaki as saying.

Its infrastructure devastated by the ongoing five-year war, Syria’s GDP contracted by 19 percent last year.

Al Halaki also said that his country and Russian energy holding Inter RAO are finalizing consultations on financing construction of the Tishreen-3 power plant in Syria.

Al Halaki called on Russian firms to take part in Syrian energy, oil refinery, and communications projects.
