Mexico's producer prices increased in April on an annual basis, according to official figures released by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).

The producer price index annually rose 2.56% in April, compared to the same month of last year, INEGI said in a statement on Thursday.

The figure reflects a slight acceleration from March when it recorded an annual gain of 2.04%.

That figure showed a slowdown from a monthly gain of 0.85% in March.

At a monthly rate, primary and secondary prices grew 6.38% and 0.68%, respectively, but tertiary activities fell 0.48%, said INEGI.
