MADRID

La Liga clubs have already spent over €1 billion ($1.12 billion) in total for the new signings, although there are almost two months to end of the summer transfer window in Spain.

Current transfer spending of Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona nearly equals the 70% of the Spanish clubs’ total spending in the transfer market.

When compare to last summer, all three clubs have spent more money to buy new players this Spanish summer transfer window.

Real Madrid, which already signed Eden Hazard, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy, Luka Jovic and Rodrygo Goes, became the biggest spender with €303 million ($340 million) in La Liga so far.

Barcelona spent €236 million ($265 million) to buy Antoine Griezmann, Frenkie de Jong, Norberto Murara, Emerson de Souza and Ludovit Reis in the current transfer period.

Atletico Madrid paid €126 million ($142 million) for the 19-year-old forward Joao Felix from Benfica, as he becomes the most expensive transfer in La Liga this summer.

Red-Whites spent €206 million ($231 million) for the new signings including Felipe Monteiro, Marcos Llorente, Renan Lodi and Ivan Saponjic.

Atletico Madrid also sold Antoine Griezmann, Lucas Hernandez, Rodri Hernandez, Gelson Martins, Luciano Vietto, Bernard Mensah and earned €313 million ($352 million) from the sales.

Six of the ten most expensive signings in Europe were made in Spain during this transfer period. Joao Felix ($142 million), Antoine Griezmann ($135 million) and Eden Hazard ($112 million) are in the top three.
