European stock markets close Tuesday with gains

Stoxx 600 up 0.69%, Germany's DAX gains 0.45%, UK's FTSE earns 0.34%, France's CAC surges 1.21%

European stock markets close Tuesday with gains

ISTANBUL

European stock markets ended the second trading day of the week higher, as Ukraine's president and several European leaders met with US President Donald Trump in Washington on Monday.

The pan-European Stoxx 600 rose 0.69%, or 3.8 points, to close at 557.81.

Germany's DAX 40 index was up 0.45% to end at 24,423.07 points, and the UK's FTSE 100 index increased 0.34% to 9,189.22 points.

France's CAC 40 climbed 1.21% to close the day at 7,979.08 points.

Italy's FTSE MIB 30 index gained 0.89% to 43,021.22 points, and Spain's IBEX 35 index rose 0.34% to end at 15,303.8 points.

The European investors responded positively to the meeting held yesterday in Washington with the participation of US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders.

In the meeting, the leaders discussed security guarantees for Ukraine and other ways to end the Ukraine war.

The US president said his administration began preparations for a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Zelenskyy, to be followed by a trilateral summit among the three presidents.
