European markets close lower

Excluding Spain's IBEX 35, major European indices close day with decreases

European markets close lower

ISTANBUL 

Major European markets closed Tuesday with declines.


The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, lost 4.96 points, or 1.14%, at 431.58.

The UK’s FTSE 100 index was down 29.09 points, or 0.39%, to 7,484 points.

Germany’s DAX 30 was down 1.8%, or 255.65 points, to 13,919, while France’s CAC 40 decreased 1.66%, or 105.6 points, to 6,253.

Italy’s FTSE MIB lost 260.48 points, or 1.08%, to end at 23,876.

Meanwhile, Spain’s IBEX 35 was the only index that posted an increase, up 5.4 points, or 0.06%, to end the day at 8,631.

Major Asian stock markets also closed lower as investors are worried about the global economic outlook and monetary policies.

Turkiye’s benchmark stock index was also down 0.25% to end at 2,375 points.
