Euro area industrial production growth beats market estimates in June

ANKARA

Euro area industrial production grew 0.7% in June from a month ago, beating market estimates of a 0.2% rise, the EU’s statistical office reported on Friday.

The figure, following a sharply revised 2.1% growth in May, climbed for the third month in a row.

In the EU, industrial production was up 0.6% in June, after rising 1.9% in May, according to Eurostat data.

Production of capital goods increased by 2.6% and energy by 0.6%, but fell for durable goods by 1.1% and non-durable goods by 2.3%.

On an annual basis, industrial production jumped 2.4% in the euro area and 3.2% in the EU.

The highest annual increases were registered in Ireland (25.4%), Denmark (25%) and Bulgaria (17.4%).

The largest annual declines in industrial output were seen in Belgium (minus 11.6%), Slovakia (minus 5.7%) and Romania (minus 3.7%).
