ISTANBUL
Turkish crypto trading platform BtcTurk responded Thursday to the social media claims that about $30 million was stolen as a result of hacking, saying that "all security measures have been taken."
"During the checks carried out on August 14, unusual movements were detected in our hot wallets," the platform wrote on the US social media company X.
"As a precautionary measure, cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals have been temporarily suspended. They will be reopened once the work is completed," it noted.
BtcTurk stated that the majority of assets are held in its "secure cold wallets," adding: "Thanks to BtcTurk's robust financial structure, user assets will not be affected by this situation."
The statement also noted that buying and selling transactions and Turkish lira deposits and withdrawals continue uninterrupted.
"While our detailed investigations continue, official authorities have been informed, and all necessary security measures have been taken. We thank you for your understanding and will continue to share developments with you," it added.
