ISTANBUL

Motion picture fans in Istanbul, Turkey are enjoying the 9th Bosphorus Film Festival which features Bosnian director Danis Tanovic and Mexican director Carlos Reygadas as honored guests.

The festival, which is being held from Oct. 23-30 with contributions from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s General Directorate of Cinema, TRT's Corporate Business Partnership and Anadolu Agency's Global Communication Partnership, is hosting famous and successful cinema professionals from around the world.

It opened with Tanovic's film Not So Friendly Neighborhood Affair, which made its world premiere at the 27th Sarajevo Film Festival in August.

Turkish Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ahmet Misbah Demircan said the festival will present films from different parts of the world to cinema lovers for a week and congratulated those who contributed.

Emrah Kilic, the event’s artistic director, said the festival got rid of the shadow of the coronavirus pandemic a little more this year and they presented a program full of international participants.

"My movie that will be screened tonight is a TRT co-production. I thank you for all your support. There are some local jokes in its content. It may be a little difficult to understand, but I hope you will get the message eventually. Have a good time," Tanovic said.

"Last Days of Spring" by Isabel Lamberti, "Jack's Ride" by Susana Nobre and "Bebia, My Only Desire" by Juja Dobrachkous were aired at the Kadikoy Cinema on the first day of the festival.
