NEW YORK

As part of the U.S. is in the grips of record-breaking cold weather, a Kentucky police department believes Disney's Queen Elsa is to blame.

The Harlan City Police Department had a little fun with the Arctic air blowing across much of the eastern U.S. when it posted an all-points bulletin Thursday for the arrest of Queen Elsa of Arendelle, a main character from Disney's animated film “Frozen.”

"Suspect is a blonde female last seen wearing a long blue dress and is known to burst into song 'Let it Go!,'" said the bulletin issued on the department's Facebook page. "As you can see by the weather she is very dangerous. Do not attempt to apprehend her alone."

The queen regnant of the kingdom of Arendelle has complete control of cold temperatures and can conjure up and shape various things from snow flurries to blizzards.

Shortly after it published the bulletin, the department posted another message, reminding citizens to stay safe during the cold.

"All kidding aside, the weather has been very dangerous and temps will get worse. Everyone please take precautions to stay safe and warm. Stay off the roads unless it is an emergency. Watch out and help others who may need help. HPD is doing a great job during this time but it takes everyone working together."

The coldest air of the season, caused by a polar mass some meteorologists call the Siberian Express, engulfed nearly the entire eastern half of the country Thursday, with temperatures 25 to 45 degrees below normal.

The National Weather Service said daily record lows were set Thursday morning in numerous cities including Louisville, Kentucky, Chicago, Cincinnati, Nashville, Tennessee and Springfield, Illinois.
