Leading news agencies, including Anadolu Agency, gather in Brussels for conference

BRUSSELS 

Members of MINDS International, formed by the world's leading news agencies, wrapped up a conference Friday in Brussels.

The 33rd MINDS International Conference, hosted by the country's official news agency, Belga, was held with the participation of 23 leading news agencies.

Anadolu Agency board member associate professor Ismail Caglar and Strategic Communications and Foreign Relations Manager Dr. Hazal Duran participated in the event.

During the two-day program, six main sessions were held including media innovation in the EU, news agencies’ new strategies, successful collaboration with media startups and scaleups, partnerships with tech platforms and how editorial systems and newsrooms can support business.

Margrethe Vestager, the European Commission’s executive vice-president; Richard Gingras, head of Google News and other senior executives at major news agencies in Europe addressed the event.

A global network of leading news agencies collaborating in new media business on a top executive level, MINDS International aims at supporting “the digital development of news agencies and the media industry,” according to its website.

The conference is held twice a year. Anadolu Agency, AFP, Reuters, AP, ANSA, DPA, ANA, EFE, and Kyodo are among the members of MINDS International.
