TUNIS
Anadolu Agency Director-General and Board Chairman Kemal Ozturk met on Monday with Beji Caid Essebsi, the leader of the opposition Call for Tunisia movement.
The meeting, which took place at the party's headquarters in the Tunisian capital, is part of Ozturk's current visit to Tunisia to introduce AA new French wire service.
Ozturk familiarized Essebsi, one of Tunisia's most prominent political leaders, with the different services offered by AA and the objectives of the Tunis-based French service.
Essebsi, for his part, lauded the role played by AA in enhancing Tunisian-Turkish relations.
The Call for Tunisia is one of the country's main political parties.
Ozturk, who arrived in Tunis on Sunday, will attend later Monday a special celebration marking official launch of AA French service.
The French service started its official broadcast on April 6 to coincide with the 94th anniversary of AA founding.
The service offers news and features from several African countries, including Senegal, the Central African Republic, Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Guinea, Ivory Coast and Madagascar.
The French service also covers Turkey, the Middle, Europe and the rest of the world.
