Estimated cost is $705 million, Pentagon says

WASHINGTON
The US State Department approved the possible sale of the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems and related equipment to Australia, the Pentagon said Tuesday.
The estimated cost is $705 million, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said in a statement.
"The proposed sale will improve Australia’s capability to meet current and future threats, and will enhance interoperability with U.S. forces and other allied forces.
"Australia will use the capability to strengthen its homeland defense and provide greater security for its critical infrastructure," it added.
The principal contractors will be Lockheed Martin, L3Harris Corporation, Leonardo DRS and the Oshkosh Corporation.
