Turkish foreign minister meets with Australian counterpart on sidelines of ASEAN talks

ISTANBUL 

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met Thursday with his Australian counterpart Penny Wong.

The two met on the occasion of the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, according to a post on X.

The meeting and post-ministerial conferences, which began on Tuesday, will continue through Friday.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is a 10-member international intergovernmental organization made up of Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Brunei, Thailand, Myanmar, the Philippines, Cambodia, Singapore and Malaysia.

Malaysia assumed ASEAN’s rotating chair on Jan. 1, 2025.

Fidan last participated in a trilateral meeting on July 26, 2024 in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, as part of the 57th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
