Thailand on Wednesday suppressed a riot at an immigration detention center, where over 325 Chinese nationals believed to be involved in scams are held.

The rioters were demanding to be sent back to China, according to the Thaiger news.

Officials used "forceful measures," including high-pressure water from a fire truck, to regain control of the center. Two detainees were reportedly injured due to infighting and were later treated.

The detainees illegally crossed into Thailand after escaping crackdowns in Myawaddy, Myanmar, the report said.

According to China's Ministry of Public Security, more than 6,600 Chinese nationals suspected of telecom fraud have been repatriated to China since Feb. 20, when China, Myanmar, and Thailand jointly launched the repatriation operation for fraud suspects in Myanmar's Myawaddy region, state-run Global Times reported Tuesday.
