Russian foreign minister, Chinese leader meet at SCO summit in Tianjin
Lavrov, Xi discuss bilateral issues, preparations for Putin's visit, says Russia's Foreign Ministry

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Chinese President Xi Jinping met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) foreign ministers' summit in Tianjin, China, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday.
Lavrov and Xi discussed several issues concerning high-level bilateral contacts, including preparations for Russian President Vladimir Putin's China visit to participate in the SCO leaders' summit and celebrations marking the "80th anniversary of victory over militarist Japan," the ministry said in a statement.
Lavrov also shared Moscow's perspective on "certain current topics on the international and regional agenda" and conveyed "friendly greetings and best wishes" to the Chinese leader from the Russian president, it said.
Xi welcomed the upcoming arrival of the Russian leader and gave "high praise to the state of bilateral relations and reaffirmed commitment to further enhancing comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction" with Russia, it said.
