Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has urged Kyrgyz authorities to cease administrative pressure and "unjustified claims" against Russian companies operating in the country.

Speaking during a meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart, Adylbek Kasymaliyev, in Almaty, Mishustin expressed serious concerns over what he described as "unjustified claims and unlawful statements by high-level Kyrgyz officials against Russian businesses."

He emphasized that the Russian companies contribute to Kyrgyzstan’s economy, create jobs, and are among the country’s largest taxpayers.

Mishustin further stated that the Russian Foreign Ministry had documented cases of "unlawful, sometimes extortionate actions" against Russian firms in a diplomatic note to Kyrgyz authorities.

He called on the Kyrgyz leadership to stop administrative pressure and ensure the protection of the rights and legal interests of Russian investors.

In response, Kasymaliyev acknowledged the issue and promised to address the concerns. "We have already discussed the protection of Russian companies' rights, and as we agreed, I will look into this matter upon my return to Bishkek and provide a detailed update," he assured Mishustin.

Mishustin also pointed out that Russian businesses in Kyrgyzstan have significantly contributed to the local economy and emphasized their role as key investors.

He reiterated that continued pressure on these companies could harm bilateral economic relations.

Kasymaliyev, in response, affirmed his government's commitment to resolving the issue and ensuring a fair business environment.

He stated that he would personally oversee the resolution of the complaints raised by the Russian side.
