Russia currently holding talks on Ukraine settlement 'exclusively with US,' says Kremlin
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov says 'Europeans certainly cannot be taken into account now'
MOSCOW
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday that Russia is holding negotiations on Ukrainian settlement exclusively with the US.
Speaking in an interview with the Russian Pervy TV channel, Peskov said that at this stage, the position of European Parliament resolutions urging Europe to sit at the negotiating table cannot be considered.
"At this stage, we're talking about negotiations with Americans," Peskov said. "Europeans certainly cannot be taken into account now."
The Kremlin spokesman called the US peacekeeping mission and the efforts of American President Donald Trump "the main priority"; therefore, Moscow is preparing "specifically for these contacts."
Commenting on media reports about the US peace plan, Peskov said the topic of the American peace plan for Ukraine provokes many publications, and a significant part of them do not correspond to reality.
In a related development in Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the composition of the Ukrainian delegation at the talks with the US scheduled for the end of next week in Geneva.
In a statement, Zelenskyy said that Rustem Umerov, head of the National Security and Defense Council, and Andriy Hnatov, chief of the General Staff, will lead the delegation, which will also include Foreign Ministry and intelligence service representatives.
