Russian and Chinese leaders on Monday hailed ties between Moscow and Beijing, as they stressed that bilateral relations are at an "unprecedented" high level.

"On a bilateral basis, as well as in the formats of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS and other multilateral structures, Moscow and Beijing coordinate efforts in solving major international problems, helping to build a more just and democratic world order," Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

In times of "turbulence and change," Chinese President Xi Jinping said, "Sino-Russian relations have withstood the severe test of the changing international situation and have always maintained high-level development, setting a model for a new type of major-country relations."

The two presidents made the comments in separate letters to participants at the ongoing United Russia-Communist Party of China dialogue.

With Russia implementing large-scale joint projects in the economy, transport, energy, humanitarian and other fields with China, Putin said that the development of bilateral ties is facilitated by "well-established and constructive interaction between their leading political parties.

Next year marks 75 years of diplomatic relations between Russia and China.

"Regular contacts, which involve both their central bodies and regional structures, provide a useful exchange of experience in the areas of party building, parliamentary and public activities, and allow for a thorough discussion of a wide range of current issues on the bilateral and international agenda," Putin further said.

He also expressed his confidence that discussions in the dialogue will be "meaningful and constructive," and will serve to further enhance the Russia-China cooperation.

The Chinese president said the strategic value of Beijing and Moscow "in achieving global stable development has become even more prominent."

"China is willing to work with Russia to seize the historical trend and firmly develop China-Russia relations featuring permanent good-neighborly friendship, comprehensive strategic coordination, and mutually beneficial cooperation, so as to effectively promote the development and revitalization of both countries and inject more into the world stability," said Xi.

Meanwhile, Vyacheslav Volodin, the head of the Russian State Duma, lower house of parliament, will pay a three-day official visit to China from Tuesday.

He will hold talks with his counterpart and China's top legislator Zhao Leji.
